Sustainability is at the heart of our business. Its why we do what we do.

Our guiding principles are:

  1. do less evil
  2. there is no such thing as waste just a lack of imagination

but words are easy, so you might be interested to know how we put sustainability into practise:

  • our wool is traceable:
    • sourced from small flocks in Norfolk (our producers)
    • scoured, carded and spun by the Halifax Spinning Mill in the UK
  • hand-dyed with plants dyes by Jenn in the workshop
    • we use natural plant dyes sourced from plants grown locally  or from sustainable sources
    • we only use alum mordant and iron (ferrous sulphate) and copper sulphate as modifiers
  • we pay above market value for the fleece we use
  • we work with local craftspeople and pay a fair rate for the beautiful things we ask them to make
  • we work hard to keep our carbon footprint as low as we can:
    • the power we use is 100% renewable derived from our own solar and Good Energy PLC
    • the heat we use is 100% renewable from sustainably sourced local wood
    • transport hierarchy is bike over car, train over plane (being rural the bus is a bit problematic as the nearest stop is over 3 miles away…)
  • we are as plastic free as we can be:
    • all our packaging is reusable, recyclable and compostable
